Volunteering with elephants in Thailand

I volunteered at an amazing elephant sanctuary in Thailand and it’s definitely an experience I will never forget! Before coming out the pre-departure team helped so much including receiving the pre-departure handbook and the local team and elephant mahouts were all so friendly and accommodating. I would definitely recommend the project and would love to return one day soon!

My second time volunteering in Bali

  • Bali
  • November 2024
This is my second year in a row going back to The Might Roar project in Tianyar, Bali, which is a clear indication of how much I have loved it! When I arrived at camp, I was welcomed back by the incredible team. I chose to come to Bali because I was intrigued by their beautiful culture and scenery, it has not disappointed. Overall, the experience I’ve had has been second to none, the school and camp will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Namibia lifeline clinic & wildlife sanctuary

I arrived in Namibia with a warm welcome from the Mighty Roar team. The staff were really friendly and helpful and it was really easy to make friends. There were endless opportunities to join projects and go and explore other places, which meant no two days were the same! I cannot recommend volunteering in Namibia enough, if you are interested in animals or simply looking for a different place to travel and make friends then look no further than Namibia.

Conserving marine life in Greece

I signed up to volunteer in Kefalonia, working to conserve loggerhead sea turtles. I chose this because I was looking for interesting experiences to do on my gap year and thought that volunteering with these amazing creatures would be a unique, fulfilling and fascinating experience - and I was right. My favourite memories were of course being hands on with the turtles, but it was truly the people that made the trip incredible.

Helping make a difference in India

I volunteered in Jaipur, India where I was able to assist on the medical and teaching programmes. I am looking to become a nurse in the future and the medical experience gave me a lot of knowledge and experience that will for sure help me. I loved volunteering and it was the best experience I’ve ever done. I originally was only going to go to India but I ended up travelling to several other countries afterwardsa as it gave me the confidence to solo travel.

Childcare volunteering in Sri Lanka

I signed up for the two-week childcare program in Sri Lanka with The Mighty Roar because my friend had participated and encouraged me to join. Initially, I was a bit nervous, as I had never considered traveling to that part of the world. However, the smooth pre-departure support quickly put me at ease. I loved helping out in the nursery, where we sang, danced, played with the children. It was so much fun and a privilege to help out in the classroom.

Helping sea turtles in Sri Lanka

I signed up to the sea turtle conservation program for two weeks in Sri Lanka which was an incredible experience and was so ethical. My time in Sri Lanka was truly eye opening, being apart of local community in the village of Akurala. Overall I had a great experience and would definitely recommend this to anyone!

Wildlife conservation at Amakhala in South Africa

After a lot of research, I chose to volunteer at Amakhala for 2 weeks in January and I am SO glad I did - it was a dream trip and even better than I could have imagined! A safari in South Africa had always been a dream of mine but I'd always been worried about travelling there on my own, as well as the high costs of a traditional safari. I got to experience a safari everyday, learn so much about the animals and go behind the scenes of a private game reserve - it was amazing!

Helping with marine conservation in Bali

  • Bali
  • September 2024
I spent a life changing 2 weeks helping on the marine conservation programme in Bali. No day was the same, as we built artificial reef structures, cleaned beaches, scuba dived, snorkelled and travelled! If you are thinking about travelling to Bali or volunteering somewhere around the world, I would highly recommend The Mighty Roar and their projects.
