You have spent hours researching all of the options available to you and you have finally decided on your perfect choice! With so many destinations and projects, that’s the hard bit done!
Now that you are ready to take the next step, all you need to do is apply for your placement. Although this may seem a little daunting, we have made the application process as straightforward as possible and it is broken down into 6 easy steps – detailed further below.
Don’t forget, we are always on hand if you have any questions or need any help. Our U.K team volunteer on each and every programme we offer on a regular basis, so if you have any questions about the destination, the programme or still need help deciding, please do get in touch!
Unlike most organisations, there are no hassling sales pitches or telephone interviews. We welcome everyone that is happy to bring a can do attitude, willing to work hard and who can contribute lots of positive energy. However, please double check the age, education and language requirements for your chosen volunteer programme before applying.
Step One - Starting Your Application
You can start the application process by navigating to the programme you wish to apply for – the easiest way to do this is to click destinations, then the country you are heading to and then finally click more information on your chosen programme. Once on the programme page, you just need to click one of the several “Apply Now” buttons.
Step Two - Applying
The application process will take around 10 minutes to complete. You will need to pick the dates you wish to go as well as enter some information about yourself. We like to get to know as much about you as possible so we can personalise your trip. Although not mandatory, we ask that you provide detailed answers for the questions that we do ask. These include what you are hoping to gain from volunteering and if you have any relevant experience that may help.
Step Three - Optional Extras
During the application you will be able to select organised weekend trips (if available), choose your very own The Mighty Roar t-shirt as well as opt for our recommended travel insurance provided by Endsleigh. If you are unsure about any of our optional extras, then don't worry, you can easily add these on at a later date through your My Trip account.
Step Four- Review and Confirm Your Place
After you have completed all of the required fields and selected any optional extras, it's time to review and ensure everything is correct. Take a minute or two just to double check everything before confirming your placement. To confirm your volunteering journey you just need to click submit application. This will direct you to the payment page that is hosted by a third party payment provider (Stripe) where you will be able to pay for your registration fee using all major debit and credit cards.
Once you have paid the registration fee your application will be submitted. You will receive an automated email from us (generally within 20 minutes) and this will provisionally confirm your place on your chosen programme.
Our team will ensure they get everything processed and sent over to you within a timely manner, but please allow up to 48 hours. In the unlikely event that we are unable to offer you a place on the programme then any monies paid will be refunded in full.
Step Five - Your My Trip Account and Getting Ready
As soon as everything has been processed you will receive several emails confirming your placement and providing login details to your very own My Trip account. Within your account you will be able to download and read through the comprehensive volunteer handbook, upload all of your required details, add on any optional extras and more!
You will need to ensure that any remaining balances for your programme fee or optional extras are paid no later than 60 days prior to your programme start date. On top of this, we ask that any required details are provided no later than 21 days prior to your program start date.
Step Six - It's Time To Go
You're all set! Your adventure begins as you jet off to one of our amazing destinations. We are sure you will love every second of your travels and we will keep in touch along your journey.

- When should I apply? You are more than welcome to apply at any time for any of our programmes, with start dates available at least two years in advance. We recommend that you apply as soon as you know it is something you 100% want to do, to ensure the best chances of availability on your chosen dates. Many of our programmes have limited capacity and at times these spaces can get filled very quickly - this is particularly true for our peak period between June and August.
We generally recommend applying at least 60 days in advance to give you ample time to ensure everything has been arranged. However, if you are looking to volunteer sooner than this, then it should not be a problem. Please do get in contact if you have any concerns about arranging any essentials within a shorter timeframe.
Can I apply for multiple destinations? Yes of course. If you are wanting to join us in multiple countries, you have two options when applying. The easiest and most convenient way is to put the additional destinations, along with your start dates and durations, within the 'Special requirements’ box during your application. We can then add these on for you and confirm all placements via email. If you prefer, you can submit an application for each destination. Please note, the registration fee applies to each destination you join us in.
- Can we apply as a group? Yes, this is possible. During the first stage of the application where you choose your dates and duration, you can simply state how many people are volunteering. You will need to fill out the details of every additional volunteer, so please ensure you have all of their details to hand. Alternatively, everyone can apply separately and pay their own registration fees. Under the special requirements box, everyone should list the other volunteers names so we can link your applications.
