In-Country Coordinator In Sri Lanka 

We are looking for a friendly, out-going and professional person to work directly with our local team in Sri Lanka. You will be representing The Mighty Roar brand, as you become one of the main points of contacts for our volunteers from around the world.

Your role will be to report to and assist Charith & Ayomi (our in-country directors), alongside the rest of the team in Sri Lanka and our dedicated UK staff members.

Who we are looking for

This varied and exciting role is open to anyone who has previously volunteered on one of The Mighty Roar programmes and is aged 18 years or older.

Due to the nature of the role, there are some desired skills and attributes that would help your application stand out. These include –

This is your chance to take a leading role in a busy volunteer setting in Sri Lanka. You will make many new friends throughout your time as a co-ordinator and be welcomed into the local team’s family – an experience like no other.

Duties & responsibilities

You will have many duties and responsibilities as part of the co-ordinator position. These include –

  • Welcoming new volunteers when they first arrive into Sri Lanka, making a positive first impression and helping them to relax into their new setting.
  • Have a good understanding of the volunteer handbook for Sri Lanka, most importantly knowing the code of conduct and ensuring this is being adhered to.
  • Visit the volunteer projects on a daily basis to ensure everything is running smoothly and assess any volunteer feedback and ideas for improvements.
  • Arrange and promote weekly activities on top of the volunteer project, including karaoke nights, kayaking, quiz nights, surf lessons, meditation sessions and more.
  • Ensuring any dietary requirements are known to the local team and that suitable meals are always available.
  • Share photos, videos and feedback on the relevant social media platforms to showcase what our volunteers have been up to.
  • Actively encourage volunteers to leave a review about their experience.
  • Support the local team in providing orientations to new volunteers.
  • To manage and deal with any in-country issues / complaints and accompany volunteers to obtain any medical assistance in the rare event it is required.
  • Be at the forefront of the support network, to ensure all volunteers are happy and everything they need.
  • To regularly communicate via Zoom and Whatsapp with our international team to provide meaningful updates. During these calls, you will also report any hygiene, quality or discipline matters.
