get your trip funded

Fundraising Ideas
Although we do our best to keep our programme costs as low and as affordable as possible, when you add flights, travel insurance and spending money you may find that you need a little financial help.
The money you and other volunteers pay for the programme goes towards the overall structure of the project and includes your accommodation, meals, airport transfers and support from our UK and local teams.
We find that the best way of letting all of your friends and family know about your volunteer adventure is to create an online fundraising page. We have teamed up with GoGetFunding who are an online crowd funding website that many of our volunteers have used and have recommended in the past.
You will be able to create a personalised fundraising page of your own where you can tell everyone exactly what you are doing and why you need some extra money (the more detail you go into the better), set financial goals and upload lots of pictures. Once complete you can share your new page via email and across all of the main social media platforms!
There are no initial setup costs so you have nothing to lose and their processing fees are much lower than the majority of other organisations. To find out more information and to setup your fundraising page click here.
We have gone into more detail below about how to setup your fundraising page and some other helpful tips on what you can do to raise additional funds.
Set up your funding page
Creating your page is very easy and can be done in a few simple steps. Ensure that you write all about your trip, the goals and what you are hoping to achieve from volunteering – the more people know about what you are doing, the more they can help! When creating your page make sure you style it to your liking, select the correct currency and add lots of photos. Create your page using the link above.
Friends and family
There’s no better place to start looking for help than at home. Your friends and family know and love you, so who better to ask first. Make sure you let them all know about your trip and direct them to your fundraising page.
Social media
Social media platforms are your next best friend. Make sure you utilise Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to widen your social circle and post details about your trip along with a link to your Go Get Funding page.
Fundraising events
Why not organise an event or do something crazy to raise funds for your trip? Hold a cake sale, organise a party, run a coffee morning or run, cycle or walk a crazy distance – just be sure to let everyone know what you’re doing and why.
Hobbies and old items
Like most people, we’re sure you have things around the house that you just simple don’t use anymore! Why not sell it on eBay, gumtree or through another website – you’ll earn more than you think! Do you have an interesting hobby that you can put to good use to start selling items or services? Why not give it a go!
Grants available
There are many local charities and organisations around England that offer grants or sponsor people to get involved with volunteering overseas. Do a quick Google search and see if there are any near you or look through the ‘Directory of Grant Making Trusts’. We regularly receive contributions from the Jack Petchey Foundation and The Burns Price Foundation.
