Read about Rosie's highlights on the marine conservation programme in Greece.
My names Rosie and last September I did the Marine Conservation in Greece (Kefalonia).I honestly can’t even put into words how amazing it was!
When I first arrived I was feeling quite anxious, but once I met the other volunteers I immediately felt at ease. From the airport we were picked up by one of the local drivers, they drove us to the bus station where we got a coach to our villa. Everyone was so kind and welcoming.
I shared a room with 2-3 people, we had our own kitchen, bathroom and balcony between us. There was a beautiful garden with olive, lemon and fig trees. I spent a lot of free time there, resting in the hammock under the shade. Altogether in the villa there were around 12-13 other volunteers.

On the marine conservation we did LOTS of snorkelling, as well as beach surveys, plant identification and so many more interesting and fun jobs. There was a huge range of jobs and everyday what we had to do was slightly different. Sometimes it was hard work, but it was so rewarding!
We spent the evenings doing henna, making s’mores, playing games, eating delicious food and going out! The nearby town wasn’t far, I would often walk in to do some shopping and sometimes in the evenings we would all go and get cocktails and dance at the beach bar. On our days off, we did so much! Boat trips, visiting local towns, water sports and beach days, I had time to do it all!
I made life long friends and I can’t even express how much I valued my time there. I was really sad to leave, but I felt like I was leaving with an incredible experience under my belt.
