There is so much to see and do!

The best time of my life in Ghana. I participated in both the childcare and medical programme in Busua, Ghana over a span of 2 weeks. Firstly, the UK team could not have prepared me enough - I had all the support I needed. They were happy to answer my many questions and supplied a pre departure handbook along with help during the VISA process.

"I’ve made many of my favourite memories here and definitely plan on returning to the beautiful village of Busua!!"

This was my first time solo travelling, but I made the most amazing friends both on the aeroplane and out there!! There were about 12 of us all together this early in the year which was the perfect amount!! When I first arrived we were met by the local team who helped us sort out SIM cards and anything else we needed.

The local team were super friendly and there for all of us the entire duration of the trip. The food that the local team provided was delicious, there were always options for vegetarians and unlimited water!

I spent 1 week assisting teachers in various classrooms. They are very grateful for any help, and you can see what a difference it makes for the children. I spent the other week in Busua community clinic, assisting with paperwork, physiological observations and maternity check ups. It was all such an eye opening experience and I truly felt immersed in the culture.

In my free time we could swim in the ocean, there were options for surfing lessons and beach front yoga lessons. The local team provided us with activities which included a coconut walk, market trip, island trip and waterfall trip.

In the evenings there was also plenty to do including karaoke night, bonfires and cocktails & painting. The locals were the most lovely people I’ve ever met, and we found ourselves dancing and playing games.

I’ve made many of my favourite memories here and definitely plan on returning to the beautiful village of Busua!!
