Travelling solo for 11 weeks volunteering at the elephant refuge centre and wildlife rescue sanctuary.
I volunteered at the wildlife and elephant sanctuary in Thailand for 11 weeks. Working abroad with animals has been something I've wanted to do for several years, but I never had the guts to do it alone. A change in circumstances gave me the push I needed to try a new experience!
"Travelling solo for the first time was petrifying but The Mighty Roar where amazing every step of the way!"
I didn't give myself much time to plan the trip and had lots of questions and The Mighty Roar were on hand to answer them all. It was all worth it once I got to Thailand!
I've made memories I'll cherish forever and friends for life. I worked 7 weeks with the wildlife, 1 week with the Elephants and was lucky enough to get to work my remaining 3 weeks with the wildlife hospital in the sanctuary.
We had one day off a week which I spent with friends in Hua Hin shopping mall, exploring the nature reserves, at a water park or relaxing by the pool with the elephants.
The working days were long and tiresome, but super rewarding. Being there for such a long time, I got to know the routines and the animals really well.
Travelling solo for the first time was petrifying but The Mighty Roar were amazing every step of the way! It was hard to be away from home for so long, but I wouldn't change a thing about it! I hope to come back one day in the not too distant future!
